The 69 Camaro "Cam-Aero"

69 Cam-Aero based on Can-Am, Monza, and GT cars of the 70's and 80's
Initial Concept Round 1: Attempting to define early understanding of customer intent
Do we attempt to preserve the iconic lines of the 69 Camaro?
Initial Concept Round 2: Taking further risk in order to find the boundaries of customer intent
Straying away from the 69 Camaro iconic lines and getting more into modern euro touring car styling as a foil to classic american muscle
Initial Concept Round 2 Result: A Mix of modern and classic cues that are not concerned with the iconic lines of the 69 Camaro SS
Early color studies with mild refinement to the aero package, primarily in the rear wing.
The color studies were more for the color combinations and not so much the livery styling, which would come later. I would be discussing and working with the paint shop chosen for the job to decide the eventual outcome.
More advanced color studies photoshopped over a rudimentary 3D model.

The "MURICA"
The "Buddy Racer"
The "Chevy Daytona GT"
The "Phantom"
With some deliberation and paint selection the "Phantom" was chosen due to the menacing and dark colors that mimicked the aggressive body work and also proposed drivetrain of a supercharged Chevy LS engine.
Rear of the "Phantom"
After showing some sponsors and related parties the "Phantom", a mild shift to a previous sketch was chosen to be modeled and reevaluated in comparison, this one with a more "Daytona" style integrated wing.
Body work design flow and aero integration made more sense in this iteration, as well as the turbofan wheel covers more representing the inspirational material. Lighting was given more consideration and also felt more cohesive to the design intent.
A retro inspired livery was discussed, and this is the first attempt at mixing modern with retro, while utilizing the same base dark gray color used on the "Phantom" with black and red accents. It was at this point the car earned the nickname the "Cam-Aero".
Stay tuned for more!
